(More customer reviews)I got to play with a neighbor's Yoshi-blade...and found it to be an on-par, sub-par ceramic knife.

These things (ceramic knives) have been out for years...Gerber made them for hunting, and so has most famous knife companies.The limitations are quite-well-known by most outdoorsmen...but let me point out:

Ceramic knives are more for use in slicing, skinning and shaving than for cleaving, chopping, or sawing; as Yoshi instructs.Think of using a plate of sharp broken glass to cut something...because basically, that's what you have...a ceramic-glass-type material.Since it is ceramic, think of it like bone-china...it is a ceramic powder that has been HIGHLY pressed together in cake, then cooked at ceramic temperatures....it is nothing but FINE CHINA, ladies!Yes, it is sharp...and it is VERY hard, and it behaves like carbide (super sharp...until 'chip'...there goes the edge to super-dull).Water, heat, impact and even some use-stresses can cause this, by the way.Once they chip...bye bye knife.Unlike a good steel knife that can be fixed, sharpened, re-honed, and often even improved...ceramic knives are the best they will ever be, right out of the box.If you don't like it when new, you'll hate it five years from now.

Welcome to what happened to the ceramic hunting knife trend several years ago.Yes, there is still a market for them...but as soon as everyone found out what happens when they hit bone...well...kinda killed the demand for them.This is a neat 'hula hoop' of a method-ad-product...but I doubt you'll see them move lots of volume in years to come.They are just too limiting!
