(More customer reviews)I really like bamboo as a cutting surface.I have two bamboo cutting boards both of which I love.So I thought this chopping bowl as a great idea and handsome to boot.

It worked fine for a while, but I got up one morning and it had split along the joints.I did wash it the night before, but I had wiped it dry with a paper towel.

I think this might be one case where wood is a better material since the bowl is one solid piece instead of dozens on bamboo wafers.

Chops firmer stuff like onions, bell peppers, etc. pretty well.Gotta be careful not to underestimate # of chops, then chop more if pieces too big.Otherwise a couple or three extra chops can result in a semi-puree!

Cleanup is pretty easy and quick.

Cons -
Useless for mushrooms, which is one of the things I need to chop most often - the pieces of mushrooms get wedged in between the blades, which prevents the blades from being lifted all the way back up for the next chopping motion.I had to use a couple of different small utensils to get in between the blades and unwedge the pieces.

Reassembly would be a breeze except for one thing - there's a piece with cutouts that slides over the blades and keeps the chopped pieces from getting in the chopping mechanism, and you have to slide it off the blades for cleanup, then slide it back on over the blades to reassemble.The PROBLEM is that there's very little wiggle room in the cutouts on that piece, and the material of the piece is a bit pliable, so the cutout spaces get compressed, making it a ROYAL PAIN to get it to line up properly to slide back up over the blades.I worked out a way that has it a bit easier, but it took a bit of trial and error, I'd explain it but I think it's not worth the trouble.

Thankfully I got it for only 5 bucks on sale at CVS/Pharmacy, so not such a terrible loss.

(More customer reviews)I have had a few full-size food processors in the past -- both expensive and cheap models -- and the main complaints I had with them were: bulkiness, noise, and cleanup time.Over time, I realized that I was doing fewer and fewer things with the processor, and then finally, it got put away for good.
But lately, I found that I was chopping the same ingredients, in almost the same amounts, again and again.
So, on a whim, really, I decided to give the Kitchenaid 3-cup chopper a try.I own a number of Kitchenaid large appliances, and have always been satisfied.This food chopper is no exception, as it exceeds my expectations for handling my chopping drudgery.Be it onions, garlic, emulsifying dressing, making bread crumbs, chopping nuts, whatever.
This unit takes a very small amount of counter space, has a great look, stores its cord in the base, and its bowl and cover are dishwasher-safe.
This appliance is a nice time-saver, and that, in my opinion, makes it a great item.

(More customer reviews)Just loved this chopper.We used it all the time.Worked great on Deviled Egg yolks.Just don't take it out of your house, because you will lose it, then you won't have it.That is what happened to us.We took it to Christmas 2 years ago and left it there and never saw it again.

We will be ordering a more than one.Just love it.Warning, it is very sharp, but man does it work.
We have been lost without ours.

Love it, love it, love it.

Most of the time it works better than the average mixer.

Can't wait to get this item back in my hands and in my kitchen!

(More customer reviews)Since I own a B&B, I grow my own herbs.I have owned this mezzaluna for a number of years and it's still going strong; the blades are just as razor-sharp for mincing fresh herbs as they were the first time I used it.The wooden "bowl" has become somewhat discolored, but that's okay by me -- it's just beginning to take on that "antiqued" look that I love!This is one of those little-known products that makes you say, "How did I ever get along without this?"You can mince ANY fresh herb quickly and near-effortlessly with this item.I also use it for chopping other fresh vegetables and dried fruit for my scones.The ONLY drawback (honestly) is the design of the blade.The handle resembles the blade so much that you need to be extra careful not to grab the blade instead of the handle -- which is why it only gets four stars and not five!If Henckels would revisit this "character flaw," they'd have a perfect product!Oh, and you won't want to submerge the wooden chopping bowl in water for any great length of time (just as you wouldn't want to do that with a good chopping board, either) as it might warp somewhat. Mine did just that, but when it dried completely, it went back into shape -- and I learned my lesson -- which I'm now sharing with you!This is a product for serious cooks who spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing quality, fresh food.I ordered five of these and doled them out to friends and family members (who are "serious cooks") for Christmas gifts.They all love theirs!Enjoy your newest kitchen gadget and use with confidence!
