(More customer reviews)I just got this set of four different-sized magnetic knife protectors. The concept is GREAT and works much better than the standard paper/plastic cover or even the Victorinox hard-plastic encasements (Victorinox Cutlery BladeSafe for 6-Inch to 8-Inch Knife Blades), which I also have. The protectors are easy to use and put on/off, and have more 'buffer' to accommodate multiple blade sizes than the other types of protectors. The knives feel super secure when encased in these protectors.

On the downside, the magnetic pieces are held together by flimsy plastic tape 'hinges' that aren't attached well (on my units, anyway), so they are loose and wrinkled and crinkle each time I open and close them.

It may be that these tape hinges are going to detach or rip over time, not sure. But for the price, probably worth tolerating.

It would be great if Victorinox would come out with a higher end version of these, maybe hinged with thin stainless steel or at least hard plastic - I'd definitely pay more for that.
