The colors make it easy not to peel your veggies with the same knife you just cut up your chicken with thus avoiding cross contamination. The sheaths are a great plus as you can toss them in a drawer or anywhere really without the fear of damaging the blade or what it would touch. The only thing I did not like is that they are not full tang. With a full tang they would have a better weight to them and be stronger. I love them just the same though and will probably order one of each color. You can put them anywhere.
