(More customer reviews)I owe the Kuhn Epicurean all-stainless garlic press and love it.My mother was visiting recently and was impressed with it, but found it a bit hard to squeeze and thought it was better suited to a larger hand.My 12-year old daughter, who likes to cook, made the same remark.
I wanted to give my mother a garlic press, and thus, this "Easy-Squeeze" unit seemed ideal.However, we found it no easier to squeeze than the Epicurean.Furthermore, the red handles are plastic and not as brightly colored or shiny as the online image suggests.The press has a flimsy or squishly feeling relative to the Epicurean.As we're squeezing, you can feel the handles bend, as well as wobble slightly side-to-side.
It still presses garlic beautifully.The actual pressing mechanism and screen are made of the same high-quality stainless steel as in the Epicurean.It is just as easy to clean.
For the price ($19.95 vs. $39.95), this easy-squeeze unit may be a good deal, but we much prefer the heft and solid feeling of the Epicurean.We feel like the Epicurean will last a lifetime and don't mind spending the extra money.However, with the easy-squeeze, the question for me is not IF it will fail, but WHEN?
We've only used it one day, so maybe I'm worrying about something that will never happen.However, I intend to return this press and give my mother the Epicurean instead.
