(More customer reviews)The product arrived before the deadline but to my surprise only one piece of the set arrived.I waited a day to see if the others were being shipped separately and then called the company.They made an error and after talking to the product manager, he sent out the rest of the set.Apparently he talked to the company who makes the product who also sent me almost a complete set, so my 9 piece set turned into 18...for the same price as the original 9 piece set.

Dalla Piazza Foil Cutter Review

(More customer reviews)This is a follow-up to a review of this same product I did in 2006 - Dalla Piazza Stainless Steel Foil Cutter.It's now 3.5 years later, the blades are slightly worn, but it's still going strong.I would buy again in a second!

Orig. review:
Short of sounding like a couple of lushes, to say my wife and I enjoy wine is a bit of an understatement. We have a speed wine opener, but have torn through several cheap plastic foil cutters. We finally decided it was time to get a quality one.

After reading Amazon reviews, we ended up with BonJour World's Best Foil Cutter. I was a bit surprised to see it was all plastic except for the blades, and my wife *hated* the amount of downward pressure required to use it (pushing down engages the blades). However, I was extremely surprised to have it break after 4 months. As a result, to vent my frustration I wrote up a one star review of that product.

Now back to the search and I saw this stainless steel cutter. I'm not sure if I missed it during the first search, or just ignored it because there were no reviews of it yet. However, this cutter is, in a word, awesome!

It's all metal so it has a good, solid feel when holding it. The jaws are spring loaded and stop slightly wider than a bottle opening. Squeeze, a quick twist left and right, and you have a perfect cut.

I'll admit, I didn't expect this kind of construction for what I consider an extremely low price, but wow! This is probably the best "value per dollar" purchase I've *ever* made!

On one of the cheapie plastic ones we previously owned, it had a magnet on the frame, which made it handy to store. The Dalla Piazza does not have a magnet, which would be the only improvement I'd want (and then there's probably an equal number of people who wouldn't want the magnet). However, that was an easy fix with a little epoxy. Now it truly is perfect. I love it, my wife loves it - Look no further, this is the cutter you want.

(More customer reviews)Admittedly, bartending is not an area of expertise for me; I've never done it professionally. Although I haven't really used other shakers extensively, I've tried, and don't like, the 3 part kind. This one is cheap, and easy to use. The seal is good; no need for a rubber edge on the glass. What more do you need? It was remarked in the review of another Boston shaker that the drink recipes on the glass obscure the measurement scale. Not really. This glass has both oz. and mls. I find that the recipes are a good reminder of classic combos, good departure points for creative mixing. (I don't like full strength cocktails, and usually dilute the alcohol 1:2 with fresh squeezed fruit or vegetable juices.)
