(More customer reviews)I purchased this item as a xmas present so i was somewhat aprehensive about the quality. The most important thing to me was the strength of the magnates - would they be strong enough to hold the big collection of substantial knives that it was puchased for? This rack holds them all with ease and holds them good and tight, including a couple of very heavy chinese cleavers. It has a pleasant heft to it, not that cheap lightweight plastic feel like so many things these days. The S shaped hooks that were included with it was a nice touch - you can also hang non-metalic items like wooden spatulas, teflon whisks etc that normally take up so much room in the utensil drawer. Very happy with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)I had a problem storing all of my knives.I could not find a block that had enough slots to hold all of them and an in-drawer knife block did not work for me because, occasionally, a knife would shift inside, and I could not open the drawer.Therefore, I decided to look for a magnetic knife holder.

This Epicurean 20-Inch magnetic knife holder is long enough to hold all eight of my KAI knives.The surface is soft and will not scratch blades, magnets are strong but taking a knife off the holder is not difficult.The holder consists of two parts: one mounts to the wall and houses a small bubble level to ensure leveled installation and magnets; another part slides on top and serves as the surface that holds knives.

The installation was quite easy; however, a couple of issues turned a 10-minute job into a 30-minute one:

1. The mounting hardware was attached to the back of the back plate by sticky clear plastic similar to packaging tape.When I tried to remove it, the plastic was breaking into pieces and left glue residue.

2. There was a white sticker attached to the top plate indicating the direction in which to slide the top plate to remove it and to re-attach.This was one of those frustrating paper stickers that break into pieces when you remove them and leave glue residue behind.

I was going to take away one star because of these two issues, but, in all honesty, the holder is well made and solved my knife storage problem just fine.I would recommend this holder to anyone looking for a magnetic knife holder.

(More customer reviews)I got this as a birthday gift from my wish list. I am one happy girl. I saw one of these in BH&G magazine and went looking for them. This was the most reasonably priced I could find. I am pleasantly surprised to find the the magnet is quite strong. It holds 6 large knives and my kitchen scissors with space in between them. It took very little time to mount (only minutes) which is always a bonus. It is a great way to keep knives out of the reach of little fingers and protects the blades from becoming dull in the drawer from banging together. If you need to quickly chop for a cooking project, all you have to do is grab the appropriate knife from the wall and pull out a cutting board (even easier if you keep the cutting board in the cabinet just below the knives).I was concerned that it may not look that great in person, but it makes a very nice appearance in my semi-modern kitchen. I think everyone who cooks frequently should get one of these.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product with the intent to hang vertically.Unfortunately the magnet is not strong enough to hold ALL of my knives in this position, some knives did well, others drooped.When I changed the mount to the horizontal position it worked perfectly as gravity wasn't as much an issue.Very easy to mount and no frills.Good product and worth the money.
